THE MONACO ENERGY BOAT CHALLENGE

The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge brings together talent from around the world to explore sustainable maritime innovation. With the integration of Artificial Intelligence, the event highlights advanced propulsion technologies and vessel autonomy. Races, mentoring and technological exchanges will take place at the Yacht Club de Monaco, making the Principality a centre for nautical innovation.

A single-seat, sponsor-covered experimental boat from the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge moves across deep blue water, piloted by a person in an orange life vest and bright yellow helmet, with an Italian flag flying from a thin mast and a concrete harbor wall and a few distant spectators in the background.

THE DIFFERENT CLASSES

Open sea class: Focuses on creating sustainable ideas for bigger boats, that can travel on the open sea. Uses very advanced technologies for development, which are very expensive(minimum 250k EUR).

Energy class: Most beginner friendly class of the event. Focuses on developing sustainable energy storage /propulsion instead of designing a whole boat.

Solar class: Focuses on boats that can travel long distances with the help of solar power, and efficient boat design (foiling boats).
